Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. I Peter 4: 10
The Order of St. Martin Award celebrates and honours those members of our Parish family through whose life, example and service we see the light of Christ. First awarded in 2001, the Order of St. Martin is presented annually to up to three parishioners at the Patronal Sunday Service, which we will celebrate this year on November 13th. Nominees can be involved in any area of parish life or the wider community. They have demonstrated devotion and selfless commitment.
Nominations should describe in detail why the nominee should be considered for the award, including what the nominee has done or who they are and how their life exemplifies the work of Christ in the world and encourages others in their life in Christ. The nomination should also provide specific examples of how the nominee has had an impact on the life of the parish and parishioners.
Any parishioner of St. Martin-in-the-Fields can make a nomination for this award. Award recipients will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of five people appointed annually: two nominated by Parish Council, two nominated by Management Board, and one cleric from the Parish clergy team selected by the Incumbent. The Chair of Parish Council, Jay Haddad, facilitates the selection process.
The following nomination guidelines have been developed in consultation with Parish Council, Management Board, and St. Martin’s clergy. In order to maintain the integrity of the selection process, please note:
- to be eligible for nomination, an individual must have been a member of St. Martin-in-the-Fields for at least one year at the time of nomination
- each parishioner may make only one nomination
- a parishioner may be nominated by more than one person
- nominations may be made for individuals only (not couples or groups)
- members of the 2011 Selection Committee and members of their families are ineligible for nomination in 2011
- this is a volunteer award and consequently paid clergy and paid staff of St. Martin-in-the-Fields are ineligible.
Please submit your completed nomination form by Sunday, October 30, 2011. If you have any questions, please contact the Chair of Parish Council, Jay Haddad.
